The Massanutten Trout Unlimited Chapter, together with Project Healing Waters, is developing, organizing and conducting a program that will enhance the physical and emotional rehabilitation of veteran patients from local VA Outpatient Clinics.

“Through chapter member support and participation, positive results will be brought to bear on the lives of these wounded warriors,” says chapter President Bill Cartwright.

The program will consist of fly tying, casting instruction, rod building, and fly-fishing outings. The initial step will be fly tying classes in October. Through the generosity of James Madison University, the fly tying classes will be held there.

The VA estimates that there are approximately 16,000 area veterans that can benefit from this type of activity. The Massanutten Chapter is going to need help. If you would like to volunteer for fly tying or casting instruction, rod building coaching, or leading a fly-fishing outing, please contact Bill Cartwright at dichb@nullaol.com. The chapter is also accepting donations of any fly tying materials or gear.
