VCTU honors dedicated volunteers

The Shenandoah Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited was recognized as the
Chapter of the Year and Marvin Gilbert of the Skyline Chapter was honored as
the Conservationist of the Year at the Virginia Council of Trout Unlimited (VCTU)
Annual Awards meeting.

VCTU Council Chair Graham Simmerman presented the Chairman’s Awards to Col.
Lee Dewald and Dr. Robert Humston of the Skyline Chapter. Seth Coffman of the
Massanutten Chapter received the Award of Excellence and Jason McGarvey of the
Capital Chapter received the Mike Barbour Award.

The Massanutten Chapter’s Beaver Creek project was honored as the Conservation
Project of the Year.

The New River Valley’s web site was honored as the best of the year while best
newsletter honors went to the Winchester chapter’s Lateral Lines.

Membership Awards were presented to the Little Stony Creek Chapter, best small
chapter with 24 percent growth, and the Virginia Capital Chapter, best large chapter,
with 17 percent growth.
